Carl Linger's signature appears on this piano score of the Messiah. This score does not contain the orchestral lines, just vocal parts plus a piano reduction. And as there are no pencil markings in this score, it is extremely unlikely that Linger used this score to conduct the performance on 1859. However he or associates may have used it to rehearse the choir for that occasion. As Linger died with a couple years of this first performance in Adelaide, it is likely that this score had some connection with that performance.
