Adelaide Symphony Orchestra (ASO) downsizing

The members of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra totally reject that notion that the orchestra’s strength would be slashed by 25%.

The international acclaim achieved by the orchestra’s performance in the recent Ring Cycle season was a result of the artistic strength of a permanent ensemble the size of the current ASO. This strength of ensemble allows the orchestra to deliver at the highest artistic levels, its many and varied orchestral activities, including the support of opera and ballet, to South Australians.

It is imperative that South Australian parliamentary representatives impress upon the Federal Arts Minister, the Honorable Rod Kemp, the importance of rejecting such cuts to the ASO while at the same time providing the right level of funding so that the ASO can continue to serve the people of South Australia.
