The radiant, polio-stricken, but erect Marjorie Lawrence reaches centre-stage standing steadily on a wheeled podium-like platform propelled gently by an assistant. She looks stunning in a sparkling gold (lamé?) dress. She sings magnificently, then graciously and smilingly accepts generous applause with a slight nod of the head and departs the stage, as she came, with calm and serene dignity.
