……A correspondent to The Advertiser had noted that, owing to the installation of talking pictures at The Regent, 10 members of the theatre’s orchestra had received notice and concluded: ‘‘I do not think that the general public will appreciate this move, and I am sure that when the novelty has worn off, the music-loving patrons who attend pictures, not only for the show itself, but also for the musical enjoyment, will demand the full orchestra again.’
