ORCHESTRA CHANGES NAME
The ABC General Manager (Mr
T S Duckmanton CBE) tonight announced that the SA
Symphony Orchestra would in future be known as the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.
Mr Duckmanton said that the ABC had adopted the
change of name after consultation with the State Government of South Australia,
the Adelaide City Council, members of the orchestra and other interest parties.

Recent increases in the staffing of the orchestra
will augment its on-stage strength to 75 players.
